Will’s Dr. visit

Will had his 4 month checkup today and it went well overall. He is 15 lbs. 9.6 ounces (75th percentile) and exactly 26 inches long (85th percentile). He of course got stuck 3 times with shots but was fine after he got some mama hugs.

He is meeting all of the developmental areas as well including rolling, grasping objects, laughing out loud, smiling, etc. He also preffered sitting up rather than lying down for Dr. Tyson's exam.

“Nathan to planet Earth, please.”

Nathan's latest thing is randomly shouting, "Oh! I forgot to go back to Earth!" Like this morning while he was watching me get dressed he just randomly shouted, "Oh, mommy! I forgot to go back to Earth!" So, i replied, "well, you better get back there then!" He then pretends to press a series of imaginary buttons and make rocket sounds and finally proclaim that he's back. "Whew!" is usually what he says when he finally makes it back.

I am not sure where this "back to Earth" thing came from. I think it may be from the Little Einsteins VHS tape my mom bought him that he's been watching every now and again. On a side note, I really do like the characters of the Little Einsteins series because they are so diverse. Finally, Disney does something great!

Grandmas are my saving graces.

I am sure many of you will concur that Grandmas truly are lifesavers sometimes. As many of you already know, my mother has FINALLY MOVED HERE!!! WOO HOOO!! I am so happy about it! We'll see how long I can actually keep her here!

Today David called from work wondering if it was okay for his mom to come by and pick up Nathan. Duh. Is it okay? Oh, yeah, it's more than okay! So, off he went dressed in his new Lightning McQueen t-shirt that his Grammy (of course) bought him recently. Not that I don't miss or think about my child when he's away, but it is so nice to have the afternoon to scrapbook, blog, finish laundry and of course, be a mommy to Will. It's as close as he'll ever get to being an only child or at least a first-born child.

Another first.

Will got to try out his new sippy cup today. .....

"What the heck is this thing?"

"Ahhh...that's what it's for ...my teeth!"

"Not very tasty!"

"Let's use it as a toy now."

"What's in here? That ain't mama's milk!"

Can you say “worn OUT”??

Whew! Today was such an exhausting day already and it's only 2:55 in the afternoon. This morning we had contractors out to finish up some work on our house so that was of course fun. Then at 11:15 N8, Will and I headed out to The Little Gym for Nathan's free preview class. We actually decided to have his birthday party there and it's a decision i am glad we made because during his class today he LOVED it!! He did so well too that I signed him up for classes for this Fall. I think we are now officially overbooked this Fall with activities, but Nathan is just like his mommy...involved in EVERYTHING! I think it'll be great because once it gets freeze-your-booty-off cold here, he won't be able to go outside and play and run around so TLG is a perfect solution!

Everyone in the preview class today was new as well but despite that, they all still behaved extremely well for a bunch of 3 and 4 year-olds. Some of N8's favorite activities during the class were hanging from the parallel bars, doing tumbles/summersaults down the padded gym mats, doing the "Little Gym" race, and the parachute that they brought out at the end. I love TLG's setup because the kids actually go to class by themselves but there is this HUGE lobby for we moms to hang out and the entire wall of windows so we can see the kiddos as they're having class. It gave Will and I some time to just hang out for the hour. Also what's great about them is that they follow a structured cirriculum and have a focus each week rather than just let the kids have open play. And, as if that wasn't enough....

A playgroup we had been invited to last week was actually meeting AT TLG for playgroup so we got to wait another half hour and do it ALL over again! I think Nathan thought TODAY was his birthday with all the playing and jumping around he did at that place for two hours! The playgroup class was structured a little differently though so Will and I got to go in and join in the fun too, which was nice. Nathan had a great time again and of course didn't really want to leave. He is excited about having his party there.

I knew he'd be worn out but I had no idea he'd fall asleep before we made it home. So he's now resting in his bed and will probably wake up later ready to go again!

Kindermusik - Round 2

Today was Will's first day of Kindermusik. It was so fun for him and so surreal for me. It reminded me all over again of where it all began when Nathan first started with it.

I think his favorite part was the bouncing activity to the "Zoom!" song. I was able to bounce him way up high while singing, "Zoom!" He just giggled and grinned from ear to ear. He loved it. Surprisingly, he stayed awake for the entire class (45 minutes) but fell asleep in his infant carrier in the time it took me to walk from the building to the parking lot (all of about 50 seconds). He was worn OUT!

I loved coming home and going through his little set of home materials too. I am really going to enjoy this bonding time with him and I know he will get so much from it!

If I couldn’t live in Maui….

I'd live in Mountain View. Here's why. (Hint: It has something to do with being online, of course!)

More Sitting Up Pics

Dude, we are SO living in a bubble!

Check out these photos I just snapped up while taking a quick break to go upstairs and get a drink.....

We had to move EVERYTHING into the formal living room over by our dining area just so it would be out of the contractors' way. Now, for any of you that know me, you know that this disorder is driving me NUTS!

It’s FINALLY quiet around here!

The contractors are here working on our house today and will remain here all week. They're mostly working on Nathan's room issues but are also doing some repairs/replacement to our first level ceilings due to some water coming in from upstairs windows. After a morning full of moving furniture, toys, etc. out of the way and hearing ladders, hammers and all sorts of other racket, it is finally calm here. (The workers must be on lunch break.) N8, Will and i have mostly been chillin' out in the basement watching movies, burning popcorn in the microwave down here, and playing computer games. Anyway, Will's asleep right next to me on the futon down here as i type this so we'll see how long he'll stay down for. He'll probably wake up to noise again as soon as the workers return. Nathan's enjoying it though, as he loves to spend time down here.
