Under the weather.

I've had this annoying, painful sore throat for the past four days now and it's driving me nuts. I think it's just because all of this rain and weather nonsense. I am just hoping it's not strep.

Nothing seems to help. It hurts when I swallow and is really more annoying than anything because it feels really dry when I try to talk, and well, as we all know, I DO love to talk.

Are you happy you weather freaks?

It's raining. Boo-hoo. I hope at least someone out there is happy. I can think of a few who most certainly are!

Sweet boy.

This morning after my morning spritz of my all-time favorite fragrance Nathan says to me:

[sniffing sound]"Mmmm, mommy I'm going to eat you because you smell like applesauce."

It was so cute I burst out in laughter. It was also not very believable seeing as how he doesn't even LIKE applesauce! It is worth mentioning, however, that the other night he did take a bite of the taco bake I made and today he ate watermelon for the first time and actually liked it! Okay, well, actually I made him try the watermelon by threatening not to take him to Alexander's for a playdate. Worked like a charm.

I am trying to get this kid to try more foods. He seems to be cooperating for the most part so hopefully it'll just get better.

Just ranting against anti-summer people.

"Rumors of rain, and let's hope they're true because it is SOOOOO hot out!"

Yeah, I just overheard the news anchor lead into the weather coverage with this statement and it irritates me. It is SUMMER, people, it's SUPPOSED to be hot. It's not even like it's THAT hot out! And, if it's really that bad, stay inside or go to the pool. I felt like jumping through the TV to yell, "you know you're going to be wishing for the heat on one of our 20 degree February days!" Now, how silly will I look wearing my cute flip-flops out in the rain? How much fun is rain for anyone anyway?

Rain, rain go away (and don't come back). 90 degree weather?? Bring it on!

Big time joker.

Nathan is so into joking and riddles at this juncture of his childhood. That's just how he rolls. I think it all started with the "Grumpy Old Troll who lives under the bridge" from Dora the Explorer. Anyhoo, one of his favorite things to do is make up funny riddles that really don't flow as well as he'd like to think, but it's still cute.

Well, tonight while playing with his toy dinosaurs we somehow got on the subject of using the dinosaur as a key for something. And, thus was born our very own original riddle:

Riddle: How does a dinosaur get into its home?

Answer: with his KEY-REX!!!

Get it??

Nest head.

Nathan has created yet another nickname for Will. When I asked him why he called Will Nest Head, Nathan replied something to the effect that the back of Will's head looks like a nest. I guess this is actually true. Even I can admit that. Sorry Will-Pill, but looks like the nest head is staying.

Drooly kid makes for short-fused mom.

William is teething. Big time. He has been this way for about three or four days. Nonstop drool. But, the worst part is that in addition to the off and on fevers and the loss of appetite he's had, he is extremely, unbearably needy. GAH!

He literally wants to be ALL. OVER. ME. all the time and it is driving me mad. Luckily he went down for bed tonight at about 8:30 so I can actually finish a few things around here while Nathan plays Ms. Pac Man.

Anyway, Will is going through a tough time right now with the two monstrous teeth he's getting in. There's one on the left and one on the right and they're both on top. The other night I had a meeting to go to and David stayed with the kids. He reported later that Will kept his ENTIRE fist in his mouth nearly the whole time I was gone. Poor dude. Hopefully this will all pass soon and we can resume eating, sleeping, playing, and living in peace.

Just one more reason to love pineapples.

This afternoon while the boys were napping I finally cut into that pineapple in my fridge that I've been craaaaving! I have to say that this little tool definitely makes digging into fresh pineapple a lot easier and tons more fun (not to mention, less messy). Anyway, it's my new favorite kitchen gadget.

What's cool about it too is that since it keeps the pineapple skin intact, you can actually fill the pineapple with the slices or chunks afterwards. Makes for a really fun presentation - eating pineapple out of a pineapple.

Another mention worth mentioning.

I received my electronic copy of the KWBC newsletter and was so excited to find that my KC Metro Moms site was featured!

Just had to share.

My Dad’s Birthday Recap.

Nathan and Will were so glad to be celebrating Grandpa's birthday with him. Don't ask me why, but my Dad for some reason thought he could actually find a decent mexican restaurant that serves breakfast around here. Anyway we eneded up going to a place that I'd neve been to before and had high hopes. Fat chance.

Here's a tip, people: you can't call yourself a Mexican restaurant and NOT EVEN SERVE refried beans! I understand the whole balck bean thing, but at least give people an option. Duh!

But, at least we had a good time.

Then we went off to the farm and showed Granda around. It was really hot but a LOT of fun!

Then later for dinner we took Grandpa to Red Robin since he'd never been and is of course a true carnivore. We lucked out since it was a Tuesday night and Kids Night. They had a great balloon artist there and they took inspiration from the shirt Nathan was wearing to design a fabulous balloon hat and sword.

Don't you just love that "R, Matey" pirate face?!
