I hate reruns.

Tonight's Grey's Anatomy was a rerun. Where in the heck did that come from? It was SO out of nowhere. I was expecting a NEW episode this week and have been sorely disappointed. What is the point in reruns anyway? If you didn't have the sense to DVR the episode or if you missed it for whatever reason, that's just too bad. I think reruns are totally a waste. Can TV producers not find ANYTHING new to air? Surely they can pull something out of the vault even if it's a never seen before pilot of some cancelled show or something. Ugh. Reruns suck.

Good thing Survivor was all new or this entire night would've been wash.

Four year-old’s obsession.

Nathan is OBSESSED with having a sleepover sometime soon. He's been talking about it for weeks! At first it started out with him wanting to call his classmate, Eric, for a sleepover. Then, when I told him that his mommy might feel that he's too young to sleepover at our house, he replied that he would ask her himself to see if she'd let Eric come over. He kept begging me to just get him the phone number so he could call Eric's mom and ask her.

Well, he's not let up. While we were on Thanksgiving break he kept saying over and over again how much he wanted to have a sleepover. I don't know how better to explain it to him but hopefully the whole notion of having a friend over to spend the night will soon die off.

I don't know what age is good to start allowing sleepovers but I am pretty sure it's not four!

Big State, Big Family.

The kids and I made it into Austin on Friday and are really having a great time visiting with family here. Our flight was great, including the wonderful bagels and cream cheese, XM Radio, and raisins.

Upon picking us up from the airport, my dad took us to this great hole-in-the-wall Mexican place to pick up some yummy, fresh and most importantly, authentic breakfast tacos. Then we headed over to his place for a nap. Nathan and Will enjoyed visiting with Grandpa and their uncles here, whom they hadn't seen since December of last year. I got to nap!

Then we were heading over to my uncle's who was hosting a post-wedding barbecue fest for my cousin Amanda who just got married to Matt last month in Jamaica. I haven't seen Amanda or her new husband and my aunt (who all live in Georgia), since last year when they came for Thanksgiving. I've also been able to catch up with a few of my other cousins and their kiddos and various aunts and uncles. I have never seen so much FOOD! I am SO enjoying myself. I've had sausage, brisket, homemade potato salad, homemade tortillas, beans, rice, every kind of soda you could imagine and of course, sweet tea!

Nathan and Will are enjoying the extra attention they've been getting as well from their second cousins, great aunts, and uncles, and of course, grandparents. The weather here's been cold and rainy (not going over quite well with me at the moment), but we're dealing effectively. I'll try and peel myself away from my family fun long enough to post some pics later.

Put away dem flip-flops, peeps.

Our first snow has made it's way through Kansas City and it's not even Thanksgiving yet! It's a light dusting but nevertheless, still snow. It's been SO cold today! I had to bust out the boys' new chocolate brown winter coats while we went out today because it was so chilly. Then as we were out it started snowing! I can't believe just yesterday it was mild and sunny!

I finally have THAT kid.

I finally have the kid that draws on walls. William did it and I was so freakin' pissed!

He did it right in front of my eyes too while I was sitting two feet away from him. This is so huge for me because Nathan has NEVER entertained the idea, much less actually written on the walls or furniture, etc. I just can't believe how different they are.

I was actually considering repainting the kitchen a nice color I saw in my latest issue of Domino, but definitely NOT the red that Will had in mind.

Some Fall fun.

I can't believe it's so freakin' cold out right now when two days ago we were just outdoors enjoying crunching leaves and playing soccer out back.

Nathan was insistent that I take a picture of him with his "mad face".

But for the most part we had a great time outdoors.

We originally had gone outside to set out the squirrel goodies that Nathan had brought from preschool. The bag was full of sunflower seeds, popcorn kernels, popcorn and I think one other thing. Anyway, we set it out on the storage unit we have in the far corner of our yard and had seen several squirrels while we were out there but no takers. So we came in later then played and got ready for naptime. And just as I was hanging up the phone with a friend of mine (the kids had been asleep for about 30 minutes by this point) I looked outside and saw this:

I quickly ran upstairs and tried to wake Nathan up so he could enjoy seeing the squirrel eating his treats but N8 was sound asleep. He had so wanted to see it for himself but when he woke up I told him that I'd captured a few pictures and he was okay with that. We'll have to try it again once it gets warm enough for squirrels to be out, which I am sure is several months away.

It’s almost time….are you ready?

Well, it's almost time to stuff your face with turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, and who knows what else. Are you ready? I came across some pretty interesting facts about Thanksgiving Day and here's my fave:

$3.86 billion
Forecast 2007 receipts to farmers from turkey sales. This exceeds the total receipts from sales of products such as rice, peanuts and tobacco.

Let's just say I may venture into turkey farming. Seems like a decent living, no?

The dog kid ate my lunch.

Somebody recently asked me how I stay so fit. Now, let me first say that I would never classify myself as 'fit', but if I seem 'fit' to such people, this would certainly be one of the ways that I would remain so.

I was fixing lunch for the kids this afternoon and had them all settled in and eating. I then decided to fix myself a baked potato. I have been a little under the weather for the past few days and the baked potato sounded like a good idea. So I popped one into the microwave then trimmed it with my usual fixings (butter, sour cream, cheese, salt, and lots of pepper). I was all set to sit down and join the kids for lunch.

Then Will decided he wanted a bite. And that, my friends, was the end of my lunch.

No joke, I literally had a handful of bites and Mr. I-never-met-a-food-I-didn't-like decided to finish off the rest and is doing so right now as I sit here and blog about it. Listening to my tummy rumble.

Ah, well, I guess there's always dinner to look forward to. But, I may have to eat that in private just to get a good meal in. Sheesh.

Sore throat, chills, and weakness, oh my!

I am feeling like crap today. There's no easy way to put it. Thankfully my wonderful husband got out of bed to feed the kiddos today without hesitation. He's been taking care of them all day long so that I could sleep. I did actually leave the house at 11 a.m. though to take Nathan to violin lessons, which I was completely in a daze throughout. We came home, and I slept some more until waking up at 3 pm to take some Tylenol. The kids are now sleeping as David and I chill out watching a movie and me doing my blogging.

I sure hope this crappy feeling subsides and that I can actually be able to swallow without it hurting in time for turkey day.

Funny talk.

Random (funny) things Will says on a daily basis:

  • "Puh" = up

  • "Dah" = down

  • "Ersh" = nurse or juice or drink in general

  • "Ssss" = yes

  • "This" = this, or pretty much anything else he doesn't know the proper word for.

  • "Bah" = bath

  • "Boh" = ball

  • "Bee-ooh" = balloon

  • "Biiee" = bite (as in, 'I want a bite of...')

  • "Peese" = please

  • "Ahtt" = hat

  • "Ott" = hot

  • "Arrgh" = Arrgh (as in, pirate talk)

  • "Bak" = basket (as in, a Target shopping cart)

  • "Maey Bi-ee" = Mighty Bites (his favorite cereal by Kashi)
