Swap goodies.

I received my package from the February matchbox swap I joined from Rachel's site, Swap-bot. This was the first swap I've participated in but I will definitely be be joining more! It was like Christmas! Check out the fun goodies I got:

(Don't know how that outlet cover got in there - it must've been lying on the counter when I dumped out all of my loot!)

Switcheroo.

Since the boys have started sharing a room, they've both been fine just sleeping in their respective beds. Now, the beds are exactly the same, mind you, but technically, Will's is the ghetto-fabulous version because it lacks rims. No, we didn't cheap out on his race car bed, we have just been too lazy to actually take the five minutes out of our busy routine to put the rim stickers on his wheels. I'm sure we'll get to it before he outgrows the toddler bed.

But, don't hold your breath.

Anyway, as I mentioned, the boys have been fine sleeping in their own beds. But, last night, something came over them. They ended up sleeping in opposite beds and slept just fine, at that. It was a little confusing in the middle of the night when Will was crying and I went to his bed to get him, only to realize that it was Nathan lying there, not Will. It's good to know they're so interchangable like that.

We’re needing a Texas fix.

Today over lunch Nathan was inquiring about when it was going to be summertime finally and he asked me,

"Mommy, when is Kansas going to turn into Texas?"

He was a little disturbed when I told him that, try as she might, Kansas will NEVER be Texas. Ever. He then made some reference to lots of tumbleweeds and how he liked that part about Texas. Come to think of it, I don't think we've ever seen a tumbleweed in Texas, so he's purely stereotyping the state of Texas.

Then he informed me that it would be kind of weird if Kansas turned into Texas because then there'd be "double Texases", but then people could choose to either visit Grammy's Texas or Our Texas. Hmmm....now there's a no-brainer.

Miss Laura would be so proud.

Here's a version of Musical Footsteps, Part Two. Since Will brought home his harmonica last week from KM, Nathan's managed to dig his out of the music bin upstairs in the playroom. These two have been doing quite a harmonica jig over the past few days.

Nathan will play a series of notes in rapid succession while Will moves his feet. It's musical hilarity for all. Enjoy! :)

Another reason I don’t apologize for being anti-Bush.

Double trouble.

Will has a double ear infection, as we discovered after another visit to the doctor this morning. He's had a lot of gunk coming out of his eyes and nose over the past few days and he was up all night with fever, so I figured I'd wake up early and take him in for walk-in hours at the doc's.

Good thing I did.

While the doctor seeing walk-in patients was wonderful and gentle, Will was just crying the whole time and would cry out "Naaaaooooowww!" each time she even looked at him or said anything. Nathan, however, was more than cooperative at letting her give him a looksie. He's got a little mucousy cough but nothing a little Mucinex won't take care of.

Anyway, Will's on some antibiotics and he should start feeling better soon. I am still so new to this whole ear infection thing since Nathan has yet to ever have one and this is only Will's second time around with it. He's napping now and will hopefully get some sleep tonight, too.

Poor thing.

Musical Footsteps.

Today Will started back up with is wonderful Kindermusik classes at Laura's new studio. Will has matured a ton since last session and participates just fine with most of the things we do in there. He's still very touchy-feely, which unfortunately sometimes means he will go up to kiddos and grab them by their hair and/or face. He just wants to touch people so we're of course working on gentle touches rather than the impulse ones he usually gives! I know he's very loving and doesn't mean any harm when he pinches or pulls, but I still feel horrible when I see him about to do it.

Anyway, he was thoroughly worn out after this morning's session. I guess he just felt like relaxing afterwards because we headed straight over to pick up Nathan from preschool and I saw that he had done this in the backseat:

Passing on the Dream.

This morning over breakfast Nathan and I were discussing today's holiday and the significance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. After reading this book, we discussed what kinds of changes Dr. King envisioned for the human race. At the end of the book the final page asks "What can you do to make the world a better place?". As I was closing the book, Nathan says to me:

"Hey mom, i have a great idea for making the world a better place."

Then I replied, "How?"

And he says:

"Giving people hugs and showing your love, too!"

I told him I thought that would DEFINITELY change the world and make it a happier place. I am sure Dr. King would've loved that idea, too.

Feeding the Robot obsession.

David has been chomping at the bit to get Nathan's robot dance on video. Well, last night he finally did it. Will decided to get in there and try it too. Nathan is of course obsessesed with robots and creating them out of his Legos, Gears, Kid K'nex, and what ever else he can find. I don't quite know why I am so surprised at how good he is at dancing Robotica.

Violin concert.

Nathan participated in his group concert today and did so fabulous! He has already begun working on his real instrument but since the rest of his group is mostly working with their box instruments at this point, Nathan also performed today with his box instrument. He did get to use his real bow, however!

Afterwards, we stayed for cookies and juice boxes and Nathan ran around with hs pal, Isaac, whom he kept bugging to have a sleepover with! What is it with this kid? He wants everyone he meets to sleepover! Well, at least he hasn't asked any girls yet - that I know of.

Enjoy the show!
