Nothing to blog about, really, except the occasional sick kid.

Nathan has been under the weather all day today. My sister and I had grand hopes of running out to the Legends today since I had to go out to that area to pick up my tables and booth setup from this past weekend's event. We had it all planned out. We'd take the kids out with us and run by, pick up my junk, then time it just right in time for lunch. I hardly ever get to go out to that side of town but love that area because of the plethora of eating establishments. And, well, let's face it... eating is one of my favorite things to do.

Scratch that plan. Nathan had been complaining of a sore throat and just as I was ready to get him dressed for leaving he told me he just wanted to lie down and go to sleep. So, I asked him if he wanted to nap in my room or his and he opted for, of course, Mommy's bed. He fell fast asleep and stayed that way until I returned home from picking up my stuff. When I got back I went to check on him and he was burning up with fever and woke up complaining of feeling just plain crummy + with a sore throat. I brought him downstairs and let him watch a movie and eat a bit of lunch. Since then, he's fallen asleep off and on here on the couch in the living room and has been drinking apple juice. He won't let me give him Tylenol but I think his fever has subsided for now. Poor little guy.

The highlight of my day was when I took him up to my bedroom to rest like I mentioned earlier. I covered him with our thick comforter and he said he was still cold. So, I took yet another blanket and placed that on top of him, to which he replied softly,

"Thanks, Mom. You're the BEST."

Scouring the sales.

Today I attended a consignment sale event in our area. I was actually there to promote my business and meet other moms to share what a fabulous resource it is! Anyhoo, I have been so amazed at how these moms come in with their double strollers all geared up with Starbucks in hand, tennis shoes + comfy tracksuits [which by the way, I am convinced originated in good 'ol JoCo] ready to take on the plethora of shopping that awaits them.

They're greeted with the first part of the sale - the toys. I was so irritated that the event's producers actually had toys sectioned off labeled Girls Toys and Boys Toys. It irritated me because although I don't have girls, I know that if I did, I would certainly expose them to Legos, Tinkertoys, plastic lawn mowers, wagons, and even [often lead-laced] toy cars. In the girls' section you can pretty well imagine what was there. Dolls, dolls, and.... oh, yeah, more dolls. There was the occasional princess costume and playhouse castle. Anyway, this whole separation of toys by gender really got to me. But, not enough to make me stay away, sillies! I managed to come home with a cool acoustic guitar, Rubicks cube, and wooden blocks for the kids. They loved everything. I got a good deal. Everyone happy.

It was fun people watching during the sale event and I imagine it's only going to get better at tomorrow's sale. Starting at one o'clock in the afternoon through closing (5 p.m.) is going to be half off the already garage sale-like prices. I'll try and put away some of my favorites and hope no one grabs them before I can get them at half-off.

Wacky Wednesday.

Today was Wacky Wednesday at Nathan's preschool. All students were encouraged to dress as wacky as they wanted and they were even told that their day at school would be a bit wacky. Here's how Nathan went to school:

After picking him up from school this afternoon, he also informed me that his day at school was indeed a little wacky. Apparently they read the book Wacky Wednesday and even had their snack time in another teacher's class!

Oh yeah, Will wanted in on Wacky Wednesday too. He made it abundantly clear that he wanted David to fix his hair like he had done to Nathan's. So this is how Will went to Kindermusik this morning:

Easter egg hunt #2

Nathan's preschool Easter egg hunt was this [very chilly] morning. They were eager to go on the hunt and start collecting the goods.

Favorite tee.

I can't get Nathan to take this shirt off! He's been wearing it for the past three days.

Now, why didn’t I get this kind of bachelorette party?

So last night I took my sis over to Melting Pot for a night of cheese, chocolate, alcohol, and fun! The food was so yummy and Sarah and I had great conversation and enjoyed some fun people watching. Then there was that one moment when one of the servers [not ours] dropped a glass on the floor LOUDLY while tending to one of his tables.

Our server was great and gave us plenty of time to eat and enjoy each other's company. The atmosphere was cool, too. Not too crowded until right when we were getting ready to leave. And, the best part [for me] besides my sister being there was this:

Melting Pot's Love Martini

Our tasty cheese fondue + dippers:

And Sarah enjoying:

And finally, our yin-yang chocolate fondue service:

We ordered more drinks shortly thereafter and then our waiter offered to take this:

I can't believe my sister is getting married next month. WOW! I am so excited and happy for her [and Gui]. I am sure this bachelorette evening is MUCH more tame than the one her friends will be hosting for her back in Austin.

Elefun

This is one of Nathan + Will's favorite game EVER! They usually don't play it as I am sure the inventors intended, BUT they still have fun. One of their favorite things to do with it is to stick their heads in the large opening while the fan blows on their face.

It is hands down the best quarter I've ever spent. Gotta love the church garage sale.

Bride-to-be.

Well, if the whole website creator thing doesn't work out for me, I think I could have a job in the bridal industry making cute bride-to-be stuff like this hat with veil and cute rhinestone tee I made for my sis.

Cute, no? Almost makes me want to get married again. With the same husband, of course!

I’m a [local] celebrity [for now]!

The news team came to visit me today and do a feature on my website! Check us out on the front page of

Nathan and Will also made the 9 pm and 10 pm news with me!

If only I could catch up.

Whew. The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind. Unfortunately, this equals blogging on the backburner. Here's a looksie into the T family recent happenings:

  • Vomiting + the runs have been a-plenty at our house since about last Thursday, beginning with Will. Next, was Nathan who got it bad on Friday afternoon. Then, I was fighting the urge to purge as well all day Sunday. Thankfully, we're all on the mend now.
  • My mom and sister came into town for Spring (what the heck is that??) break this week. They arrived on Saturday and thankfully, were here to help with the occasional vomit and butt-wiping that needed to be tended to. They've also been busy just hanging out and talking about my sister's wedding, etc.
  • Elefun has been the game du jour this week and as such, it's strewn all over the living room.
  • We've booked a family vacation back to our favorite magical place. We'll be there once again for Will's birthday this year!

Having mom and sis here is great company and I'll be sad when it's time for them to leave this weekend, but in the meantime we're having fun looking for wedding gear and just hanging out. Hopefully I'll have a chance to catch up on photos soon too.
