Octomom - Have We Seen the Last of Her?

As a Brand Ambassador for The View daytime show, one of the things I am interested in hearing about are your thoughts and/or reactions to the show, its guests, and the programming.

Today I was able to catch the show and listen to 'Octomom' Nadya Suleman talk about her future plans, how she paid for her fertility treatments, the media, and several other topics.

I don't know what it is but I can't help but think that this girl just isn't genuine!  My opinion on this whole matter is that I think she knew darn well what the risks were when she had her embryos implanted in her and I think she hatched a plan to cash in on what could be a great deal of fame.  Disgusting, I know.

She was on the show talking about how she had been in denial for a while about her whole situation and how she's learning to live on little sleep and the help of several nannies.  I honestly think that she knew right outta the gate that she would exploit her situation, including her kids, to make a living, get a book deal, and who knows what else.

If you missed the show you can watch a clip of her interview below or click here.

So I am curious - how do you feel about Octomom?  Did you catch the show?  What are you thoughts?

Giddy.

I'm all giddy with excitement today.  Nathan announced to us a couple of weeks ago that his Kindergarten class would soon have their first field trip.  After waiting patiently for info to be sent home in his backpack regarding the details of the field trip, something FINALLY came late last week!

I am one of those moms who wants to attend and volunteer for EVERYTHING possible related to my kids' school...especially my first Kindergartner!  I remember as a kid, my mom being the one always present at my class parties, field trips, track and field days, assemblies, and so on.  Fast-forward to me becoming a mom six years ago and when I thought about the school days I knew I'd always be an involved parent - probably to the point of annoying the teachers.

Late last week it was announced that only a certain number of parents would probably be selected (at random) to chaperone the class field trip and that if we were interested in doing so, to let the teacher know.  I sent her an email AND a note in Nathan's backpack.  See, I told you - annoying.

Well, today Nathan walked in from school to tell me he had a great day and that I WOULD BE ONE OF THE PARENTS accompanying them on the upcoming field trip!  We both started jumping up and down and for a moment there, I was totally acting my shoe size and not my age!

So, I am counting down the days till we get to go to Kaleidoscope, as we've not ever been there and I know it's one of the best hands-on activity places in Kansas City.

I'm curious - what sort of things do you find yourself getting giddy over when it comes to your kids?

The Things They Say.

My boys often say things that make me go "say what?", but today's remark by Will to David was just plain hilarious.

This morning after David was finished brushing his teeth, he walked over to the couch in our bedroom where Will was sitting.  Will asked him for a kiss and when David obliged, Will then said, "ooh, Daddy, lemme smell your breath!"

So David breathed in his face.

Will then replied, "Mmm..smells good!".

The View

What modern mom these days doesn't enjoy the notion of sitting around with their girlfriends, chatting it up?  I love being a work-from-home mom but do enjoy the moments that can be shared with just me and my grown up friends.

I am so excited to announce that I've been selected to be a Brand Ambassador for The View.  I must admit that while I used to watch the show religiously just a few short years ago, I've caughty only episodes here and there recently.  Over the next four weeks I will be sharing some very cool info about The View.

One of the main reasons I enjoy the show is that every one of their hosts has an entirely different viewpoint and take on matters.  Now, I don't always agree with at least one or more of the hosts' views but I can appreciate the fact that we don't always agree at times (especially as women!).

One of my duties as a Brand Ambassador is to give you the scoop on all things going on with the show.  And far be it from me to keep this news from you - there's an exciting sweepstakes going on right now!  One lucky winner will be randomly selected to win a trip from Mom Central to New York city to attend a taping of The View!  The sweepstakes runs through February 28th so head here to register today!

I would love hear your comments about the show - whether you watch, used to watch, like to watch, won't ever watch, etc.

I See You, Spring!

My Right Now.

My Right Now:

I am loving my under-eye concealer.  Having a 4 month-old who has reverted to waking up every two hours is taking its toll on my beauty sleep & routine.

I am more fully embracing the season of Lent more than ever before.  And loving the fresh, new start that is upon us.

I am longing for warmer weather.  I'd just as well skip over Spring and head right for Summer if I had a say in the matter.

I am loving the beautiful tulips that came yesterday from my mom and stepdad.

My Project 365 is still alive but needs to be updated. Sigh.

A sleeping baby lies beside me and it takes my breath away.

My husband being home so much drives me a little batty.  But then I see how much he helps out and I shut my mouth.

I am feeling overwhelmed at the things I must work on.  In time I know it will all happen.

Laundry is all caught up.

I am so blessed with health, family, friends, and faith.

What's Right Now look like for you?

STRIKE!

So I blogged before about the cutest little book my kids got me for my birthday.  Today was the day for us to try out one of the cupcake designs.  And since my middle child, Will, is quite the bowling fantatic, we opted to try those first!  I am so proud of how cute they came out!

Suffice it to say the kids were "bowled over" with joy!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Nathan & Will had a great time checking their Valentine countdown mailbox for the last time today (which incidentally is also Chinese New Year!)  I love the little traditions we've created together as a family.  What are some of your favorites?

The Valentines: How to personalize boxed conversation hearts

This year I opted to do something a little different with the kids rather than just buy them a box of valentine's to pass out to their friends.  It was actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to be and assembly was a cinch!

I've always loved the little conversation hearts for Valentine's day and so do the kids.  After scouring the internet and blogosphere for some ideas, I settled for these.

I think they came out cute and the kids had fun with them.  It was actually quite a simple project too.

First I had the kids draw out their special message.  They had to go over it a second time so that the crayon would be dark enough to show up.

Then I reduced the size of each image so that it was small enough to fit on the candy box, about 2 x 3 inches.  I then used Photoshop to place copies of the image on one document.

Then it was time to trim each one down so they'd fit nicely on the box.  Then of course, it was glue stick time.

These were so super easy and fun! Can't wait to try them again next year!  I hope your Valentine's Day was super special!

Will's Valentine's Day Party

Today Will had his class Valentine's Day party.  He had a ball eating, drinking, crafting, and playing with his classmates and I know all too well how fast this time will go by.  I love going to his preschool parties and seeing him interact with his friends and teacher.
