My baby is FIVE today! I can hardly believe it. It has been a whirlwind and exhausting, but super fun day for us.
Upon waking up in bed this morning (the kids slept with us in our bed last night), we all sang Happy Birthday to N before even getting up out of bed. N replied that he was so excited it was finally his birthday! We headed downstairs for breakfast and N was excited that he was greeted with these:
Yes, that's me being thrifty. I'd saved the balloons we used last year for his birthday and just bought one of those twenty dollar party helium tanks so we can use the balloons over and over again. I saved a ton of money by doing that because the mylar balloons are ridiculously expensive!
Anywho, that's N in the picture after just coming downstairs to a ringing phone. It was Grammy calling to send her love and well wishes for a great birthday! For breakfast N wanted waffles with Cool Whip. Who was I to argue? Besides, we had to hurry and get W out to Kindermusik. But before that, W gave N his birthday gift.
N scored a great Spidey sweatshirt and a Transformers cartoon DVD. W was proud and oh-so-happy to be giving his big brother a gift. Next it was time to finish the cupcakes we still had to ice and decorate for N's class snack. He knew exactly how he wanted the cupcakes done and did all of the decorating himself. Each was topped with a single marshmallow and a Wall-E decorated toothpick.
Next it was off to W's Kindermusik class and N tagged along. Afterwards, we had a lunch playdate at the McDonald's by N's preschool. It is one we pass by daily on one of the main roads and has an outdoor play area. N has begged me to go each time we pass it so when a friend had asked about getting together (she has a son just one day older than N), I kindly told her that I was using N's bday as a special day to take him to this new McD's. So, they were able to meet us there for a while before W and I headed off to drop N at school.
After school N and I headed up to the mall for some mommy and me time. We had our first night of Catechesis scheduled at 4:30 p.m. so I saw no need to go back home at 3:15 only to turn right back arouund and come back for Catechesis. It was fun just wasting time at the mall. N ended up running into another friend of his who is also going to be five later this month and who is on his soccer team. In addition to the elevator and escalator, N got to ride the fun robot spaceship-like ride as well.
Then we ended up going to the Disney store and picking out a couple of small gifts. It was fun just hanging out with him and spending some time in the play area together. I think we both felt it was a special day! Soon it was time to head over to N's Cathechesis and after that we headed back home for a few more surprises.
We then met D's family over at Red Robin for dinner where N enjoyed the royal treament.
After dinner we headed back home for one more surprise, some family game time and of course, no birthday would be complete without candles!
Happy Birthday, my baby boy! I hope you enjoyed your day as much as I enjoyed spending it with you! I love you always!
