The kids' school is celebrating Dr. Seuss this week by having the kids wear wacky and fun hats & socks on Friday. After going through our dress up bins down in our playroom to see what they could come up with, my oldest suggested making them out of a paper grocery bag, as we've done in previous years at the arts & crafts tent at our favorite family festival.
So, I went out to the garage where I store all of our paper grocery bags and grabbed a couple. I busted out the craft bin we have stored in our basement. It holds foamies, feathers, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, pom-poms and more good kiddie craft fun! I spread it all out on our dining room table and let them go to work! Half an hour later, they had these:
And of course my little one had to get in there with his cute Tigger hat! Monkey see, monkey do. The kids even decorated the backs of the wacky bag hats like this:
And since they're also encouraged to wear wacky socks to celebrate Dr. Seuss, here's what they finally walked out the door looking like:
I think their creations will certainly fit the bill and be festive enough to celebrate the great Dr. Seuss! These are really easy and fun to make with the kids and you probably already have everything you need right now. Have fun with them!
What are your favorite crafty ways to celebrate him?
