My family and I recently enjoyed episode #2 of Latino Americans airing on PBS. For me, it was so touching to see and hear the stories of so many Latinos who have gone before us to pave the way to a better world.
After watching, my kids began asking questions about our Latino heritage and the sometimes devastating circumstances they faced. The series covered stories about immigration and racial battles that many had to overcome in order to make it to the United States. It gave a vivid account of the people and stories of the past.
I've enjoyed this time to watch with my boys as we learn the very important stories of the past, because in truth, where else would these stories be told? They aren't in the history books! I love that Ford is a supporter of Hispanic Heritage and has worked with PBS to make sure these very important messages are relayed to thousands who have watched. We can't wait for the next episode which airs October 1 at 8 p.m. EST on PBS.
The above picture is one of my oldest two boys pictured with their grandpa's hats he is so very proud of. One was actually MY grandfather's and I have fond memories of him wearing it as a pachuco while he rolled through town! I've got mad, deep love for my family!
Latino Americans is a three-part, six-hour series will document the history and experiences of Latinos, who have helped to shape North America over the last 500 years. They are stories of immigration and renovation, and the anguish and celebration that Hispanics have faced to achieve a better life for themselves and their families.
I hope you'll tune in to watch and also follow Ford en Español on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/fordenespanol and on Twitter at http://twitter.com/fordespanol.
