Happy New Year! I'm SO looking forward to this year for so many reasons. First off, I have MANY friends who are expecting babies this year! Yes, babies! I can't wait! One of them I just recently (as in a few days ago) found out about. I was beyond astonished and excited when I received her text that she and her hubby (who thought their chances of having baby #5 had vanished) just found out they are due in July. Babies on the way are always cause for celebration!
Secondly, I also just got a call today from my baby brother (who is 12 years younger than me) just got ENGAGED to his girlfriend last night (as in New Year's Eve -- what could be better??)! So, they're planning a fun summer wedding in Texas and I, for one, am excited to already be making plans to attend. I've actually not ever met my future sister-in-law but have heard very lovely things about her from my mom and after hearing my brother talk about her today on the phone, I have nothing BUT love for her. He is so in love and it actually brought tears to my eyes as I was listening to him talk about how he's never felt like this before and how loved he feels and how much he loves her. Ah, to be a newlywed again!
And of course, my own sweet baby Andrew will be turning ONE this April! Jeez, I can't believe that but I know this year will bring so many sweet adventures with my kids. There will be lost teeth, new baby milestones (like walking!), last days of school, first days of summer, and much more I'm sure!
I'm also looking forward doing something a bit more regular around here - my Keeping It Real and Random (KIRR) series where I'll just be updating what's going on in here in my world. I hope you'll be inspired to join me in celebrating the important everyday stuff.
It was a pretty chill day (quite literally!) for us here on this first day of 2014. We all slept in till about 10 a.m., with the exception of Jacob (4 years old) who slept until well after 11:15 a.m.! I guess staying up till after midnight for ringing in the new year just did him in. We pretty much just watched football and ate some break and bake mint chocolate chip cookies that we actually made last night. The kids enjoyed playing video games and hanging out, enjoying their last few hours of winter break. Then this afternoon it snowed a couple of inches and we're now covered in white powder, just praying for a snow day tomorrow. I can't believe my kids have to go back for two days! I have toyed with the idea of letting them skip but the hubs won't let me. For dinner, we ordered pizza and watched more football. I gave my sweet Andrew a bath and he had tons of giggles in the water. I truly LOVE my life and feel very blessed with all that's part of my life right now.
So here's to 2014 and lots of new and exciting things. I hope your new year is off to a great start, too!
