I have fond, vivid memories of playing with dolls as a young girl. I remember my 3-story dollhouse, filled with furniture, clothing, and accessories, that helped me make the most of my imaginative playtime. I also remember that although I LOVED my dolls, I never really "connected" with them. I couldn't relate to them as part of my life, since they looked very different from me and lacked Latina inspired culture.
And now that I have a daughter, I know it's only a matter of a few short years before she will have an interest in dolls. I'm so excited to be able to share with her a line of dolls, Vi and Va, that embody the culture that she is a very big part of.
Vi and Va is a recently launched fashion doll line taking inspiration from Latino cultures. The line is comprised of four main characters who are more than friends - they're familia! This is a refreshing aspect to see in a line of toys, since family is at the heart of our Latino culture.
Viviana (Vi) and Valentina (Va) are sisters, and best friends with their cousins, Felicia and Roxxi. For these girls, every day is an adventure and a reason to celebrate the bonds of family and friendship. Older sister, Vi, 16, is spontaneous and easy going. She’s passionate about sharing her love of music, and she’s always ready to break out her guitar at family gatherings. She also loves creating new styles as a fashion designer. Younger sister, Va, 15, is so neat and organized. She loves learning to cook from her mother and grandmothers. She’s already perfected several savory family recipes, like empanadas (see the photo above). She also loves trying out new hairstyles, and making herself look unique with ribbons and flowers in her hair.
I love that each of these dolls has a unique talent, hobby, or quality that makes them special. There is a story behind each of the characters and that can make for some very imaginative play.
So, where can you find the full line of Vi and Va dolls, you ask? The full assortment of "Vi and Va" fashion dolls is available at Target stores and on Target.com. To learn more about the line, you can click here or visit Vi and Va on Twitter or Facebook.
