If you're in Kansas City, you won't want to miss Cultivate, the food, ideas, and music festival hosted by Chipotle. In addition to food tastings and chef demos, there will be a fun interactive kids zone with loads of activities!
Cultivate Kansas City, presented by Chipotle, is an all-day festival free to the public on Saturday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The one-day festival will host celebrity chefs for cooking demos, numerous live music performances, local food artisans, neighboring breweries and wineries, an exclusive Chipotle Festival menu, as well as a diverse set of activities highlighting food made with environmentally sustainable ingredients that also are affordable. Chipotle created the Cultivate Festival in 2011 to bring attention to the ways food influences and affects society. As such, Cultivate aims to be a catalyst for forward-thinking discussions on food and food-related issues.
The chefs speaking and cooking at Cultivate include: Tim Love (CNBC’s “Restaurant Startup,” Lonesome Dove Western Bistro/Fort Worth); Graham Elliot (FOX’s “MasterChef,” Graham Elliot Bistro/Chicago); Amanda Freitag (Food Network’s “Chopped,” Empire Diner/NYC); Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson and Bobby Stuckey (Frasca Food and Wine, Pizzeria Locale/Boulder, Denver and opening soon in Kansas City), and Colby Garrelts (Rye/Leawood, Bluestem/Kansas City).
The musical lineup includes: Portugal. The Man, St. Lucia, Smallpools, Betty Who, Max Frost and DJ Christopher Golub.
Kansas City-based Boulevard Brewing has produced a one-of-a-kind “Cultivate Farmhouse Ale,” using two-row pale malt and locally-grown Missouri soft red winter wheat, hints of lemon zest and spicy notes of black pepper and lemongrass. The exclusive brew is available only at Cultivate.
I'm truly looking forward to taking my family to this fun local event. Have you ever attended a festival like this?
