My college graduation day was one of the most important days of my life. Important to me, my family, and my heritage, for so many reasons. My successful journey through college had a lot to do with my upbringing and how my parents always believed in and supported me in my educational endeavors.
For as long as I can remember, I have always loved and supported the Coca-Cola brand. One of the many reasons for this includes the fact that I see how committed they are in supporting educational initiatives. They understand and appreciate why so many Hispanic families value education. It makes me so hopeful that Coca-Cola is joining forces with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund to help Latino students make their dreams of attaining a higher education, a true reality!
As part of the Coca-Cola Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) #ForTheDream National Scholarship Program, Coca-Cola announced a $150,000 donation to the organization that will be awarded in college scholarships to qualifying students who apply from January 1 to March 30, 2016 at coke.com/ForTheDream. Over the past two decades, college enrollment among Hispanics has increased tremendously, thanks to more awareness and initiatives like this. But, the Hispanic population still lags behind other groups when it comes to counting degrees earned. It is likely that the culprit is financial pressure that some students feel because they have to help support their families before graduation. To further show its commitment to the Hispanic community, Coca-Cola HSF #ForTheDream National Scholarship Program aims to empower Hispanic families to put their teens in the fast track to higher education.
I remember that warm May day so fondly. Both my mom and dad were SO, SO proud of my achievement of graduating from college. Of course, I didn't truly appreciate it as much then as I do now. Now that I have my own children, I see their potential and want them to have all that they need to achieve greatness. I see and appreciate the value of completing a higher education because of all that it has afforded me - in business and in relationships and in my own self-worth.
Who do you know that could benefit from the Coca-Cola Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) #ForTheDream National Scholarship Program?
