When thinking about home improvements everyone is quick to presume that the interior is what it’s all about however by looking after and improving the outside of your home you can not only add value to your home but help to give it an updated curb appeal. This time of year is the perfect time to start with some improvements to your home so have a look at these 3 easy ways that you can update your curb appeal without spending too much money.
Window Boxes
Window boxes are a really easy way to update the look of your home without spending too much in the process. You can look into adding boxes that have all your favorite plants, bee-friendly plants or even herbs for the box under the kitchen window for when you are cooking in the summer. Not only this you can easily build and paint window boxes yourself from items such as wooden pallets that you can often pick up for free so all you need to do is invest a little time and start a lovely little summer project. It can be a brilliant project to get the kids involves with too, try taking a day trip to a garden center for them to pick out some of their favorite plants to include in the mini gardens.
Cleaning
If you take a good hard look at areas of your outside such as the pathways, driveways and slabbed areas then you will probably agree that they are looking a little grubby after the winter months and now that you want to sit outside and enjoy the sun cleaning is probably the last thing you want to do. However, by completing summer tasks such as pressure washing your driveway can make the world of difference to your curb appeal and really give your home frontage a fresh and clean look. Almost as if it’s new, so why not get on it now? You won't regret it!
Finishing Touches
When it comes to finishing touches we all have it pretty sorted when it comes to the interior of our home but did you know that the finishing touches to the outside of your home can have a big impact of your curb appeal? By updating little parts of your porch such as staining the wood, adding a porch light or adding some plant pots can really make all the difference to how your home is perceived. Something else that you could consider is updating the look of your front door and mailbox. You could either add a lick of paint to them, make them the same color and add new numbers to them to give them a quick overall or if needed consider purchasing new ones. These are the first impression people get of your home so by having them in pristine condition and keeping them well maintained you are looking after your curb appeal well.
