Summer is here and it’s time for us to
Enjoy the sunshine, time with family, and adventure.
The children are about to break up for the summer holidays and this means that it is time for some fun summer activities with kids throughout July. Today we want to share our top July checklist of activities you and the kids should try this year!
- Go to the Park
The park is a great place to visit at the weekend, and during the summer it will be the ideal location for an afternoon out with the kids. You can take them on the playground or sit on the grass and have a picnic while the kids play frisbee.
- Watch a Sunset
In the summer time the days are longer and this also means that the sunsets are stunning. A sunset with a clear sky is beautiful and you can find a lovely spot to watch this with the people you love.
- Have a Picnic
Break out the basket and the blanket and set up a fun picnic for your family. You can make sandwiches, pack salads and make cakes to enjoy while sitting in a scenic location enjoying the sunshine.
- Play Board Games
Playing with the kids and spending time as a family is always great and it will allow you to bond with each other. There are lots of fun games to fun even when it is raining outside and the ideal rainy day activity could be a night of board games with your family.
- Watch movies
Another great idea for a rainy summer day is to shut all of the curtains in the house and turn the living room into a home cinema. You can then sit and watch movies with your family and have some fun!
- Have a scavenger hunt
If you want to keep the kids occupied while you set up the barbecue for the afternoon, send them on a scavenger hunt around the house! You can lead them to different locations with clues and the winner will get a chocolate prize.
- Art and crafts
A fun way to spend a summer afternoon in the garden could be to break out the art supplies and have some fun! You can even give your kids ideas of things to make by looking on Pinterest for some inspiration.
- Throw a potluck party
On a sunny Sunday afternoon, why not take the chance to throw a party with the family and let them all bring a dish of their choice! Having everyone bring some food themselves is a great way to take the stress off you and you’ll also be able to enjoy some amazing food!
- Have a campfire
When the evening draws in, why not break out a chiminea and light up the garden with fire. You can all sit around the fire with a glass of wine and enjoy talking and relaxing for the evening.
- Visit an ice cream truck
Ice cream is amazing in all of its forms, but one way which has to beat all others is from the truck itself. There is something so nostalgic and amazing about visiting an ice cream truck for a sweet treat and you’ll be able to enjoy a classic 99.
- Make a Romantic Dinner
Have a night with your partner at home where you cook a meal together and enjoy each others company. You can have some fun cooking and creating together in the kitchen and it can be a great way to spend an evening.
- Get grilling
Break out the barbecue once more and start grilling with all of your might. There are so many awesome recipes you can make for the barbecue so have some fun experimenting with new flavours and make something great!
- Go to the Zoo
A lot of the animals which we would normally see at the zoo are animals from warmer climates, and during the summer time they thrive. If you want to see some animals being super active and having fun, you can visit the zoo with your kids this weekend and see them playing and hunting and having fun in the sun.
- Look through old photos
Summer is a time for happiness and romance and it is always great to look through old photographs and enjoy seeing your memories.
- Be a tourist at home
How many times have you actually bothered to explore your own country or city? Most of the time we can grow up in a neighbourhood and never even see half of it. There are so many hidden gems we have never seen or experienced and this is why it can be a great day out in the summer. Hop on the bus or the train and head to your local town or city and spend the day being a tourist. Learn about the history, culture, try the food… it will all be worth it and you might find some new favourite spots.
- Plant some flowers
Summer is the ideal time for you to make the most of the garden and bring some colour into the space. Now is the ideal time for you to plant some flowers in your own garden and also consider planting flowers and plants in your local park or community area so that everyone else can enjoy the sight too.
- Go to the Farmers Market
There is nothing which says summer more than a good farmers' market, and in the summer they are in their prime. Head on over to your nearest farmers market this weekend and enjoy fresh milk, eggs and produce which are so much better than anything you can get in the supermarket.
- Bake a cake
Summer is a good time for a party and a celebration, and a classic Victoria Sponge can be the best choice for your next gathering. Bring together a light sponge and fresh fruit for a summer treat.
