If you suffer from stress or anxiety, then you may feel as though sometimes your feelings get the better of you. This can cause you major problems, but there are a few ways that you can try and help yourself to curb those feelings while also benefiting your health.
Workout
This may sound contradictory, but putting physical stress on your body is the best way for you to relieve mental stress. It’s important to know that the benefits of exercising are strongest when you work out on a regular basis. Those who exercise on a regular basis are far less likely to experience anxiety when compared to those who don’t, and this is because exercise lowers the stress hormones in your body. It also releases endorphins too, which are chemicals that improve your mood.
Supplements
There are so many supplements that you can take that will help you with your stress and anxiety. For example, lemon balm is actually a member of the mint family, but it has been studied for quite some time because it has anti-anxiety properties. Green tea contains polyphenol antioxidants which are also able to provide a ton of health benefits. It’s able to lower stress while also increasing your GABA receptors. This lowers your stress overall while also making it much easier for you to unwind.
Light a Candle
Using essential oils or even burning a scented candle can help you with your feelings of anxiety and stress. Some scents are able to offer more benefits when compared to others, such as lavender, bergamot, neroli and even sandalwood.
Caffeine Intake
Caffeine can be found in tea, chocolate, energy drinks and more. High doses can easily increase your anxiety. It’s important to know that people have varying thresholds when it comes to the amount of caffeine that they can tolerate. Of course, if you notice that caffeine makes you anxious or even jittery then it’s well worth cutting back.
Write it Down
Another thing that you can do is write down the source of your stress. For example, if you are concerned because you are not able to conceive, then write this down and look into the options that are available to help. For example, you could search AFCC IVF success rates or even find out if there’s anything that you can do to increase your chances. Sometimes by writing your problems down, you can then deal with them much more efficiently. If you want to take things to that next level, then it’s worth trying to find someone who you can talk with. You could even think about joining a support group if you feel as though this is an option, so don’t be afraid to look into this or even see what is available in your local area.
If you want to decrease anxiety and stress, then the above tips should be more than enough to help you to help yourself. If you are still having problems, then your GP may be able to help you to get the support you need to combat your negative feelings.
