Many people hate the wintertime, but there are plenty of benefits to the season. From festive gifts to hot chocolate and those compulsory duvet-days in the warm! When it’s cold and dark outside, we tend to stay home and relax more. With this in mind, getting your home ready for the winter season is a great idea.
Get Layering
This winter, don’t just layer up your clothing to keep warm- layer up your home accessories too! Buy yourself some new warm items for your rooms; from big cushions to fluffy throws, woollen rugs and thick hot water bottles. If you’ve been sporting some thinner curtains through the autumn, it’s not too late to invest in some thicker ones to keep in the heat. To stay cozy, you’ll be glad of those extra layers of heat and comfort.
Check Your Heating
With a smart thermostat, it’s easy to program the ideal temperature, depending on the time of day, while also conversing energy. If it’s been a while since your heating system has had an upgrade, companies like Metro Express Service offer some excellent heating services along with repairs. While you’re checking your heating, it can also be a good plan to insulate your pipes (if possible). Some water pipes are prone to freezing over in the wintertime, so it’s worth investing in some extra protection for these.
Draft Proof
There’s nothing worse than a cold draft to spoil your cozy winter vibes. Find those drafty spots in your windows and doors and fix them up using a some caulk. When you have drafts, you’ll also lose energy and end up paying more on your heating bills. If you can’t fix the drafts yourself, it may be time to call in the experts!
Warm Colours
To create that cozy and inviting feel, it can be a neat idea to give your home a revamp. Choose warm colors and give a room or two a nice paint job. Shades of orange, yellow or tones of peach can ensure that your home feels cozy in no time at all. If you don’t fancy painting, buying a few new accessories can work just as well. When choosing decorations for your home, choose those that are personalized. Print out some photographs off your best memories of 2019. Frame these and hang them up to give your home a homely and inviting feel.
Christmas Scents
Lastly, there’s no better way to make your home feel cozy than a few festive scents. Treat yourself to some new candles in scents like winter spice, candy canes, pine or nutmeg. Creating the right aromas for our home can help us to feel relaxed and comfortable. Festive candles are also great gifts for friends (if you’ve got any last-minute shopping to do)! For a finishing touch, don’t forget to add fairy lights to give your rooms that inviting glow. Now it’s time to sit back, relax, and save the rest of your home revamps for the New Year!
