As a mom you barely have time to brush your hair or look in a mirror once a day, let alone practice any form of self care. Believe it or not, a few moments a day can work wonders for your mental health and it can supercharge your powers as a mom too. Whether you’re finding your purpose again or refocusing on your health, it is vital to look after yourself right now. Making a conscious effort to put yourself first once in a while can have huge benefits for energy levels, mood and overall health, so consider the following four self care strategies.
1.Check in With Your Overall Health
You wouldn’t let your child feel sick or low on energy without seeking medical advice, so why would you do this to yourself? It is so important to check in with your overall health as a busy mom. You might be worried about your hearing; you can learn more here about hearing aids and what the benefits might be for you. You might also be anxious about other aches, pains or even your mental health. There are so many reasons to stay tuned in with your overall health so that you can be the best mom you can possibly be.
2. Find Time to Yourself
Running around after your kids all day is fun, but tiring. You pray for the moment that you can actually go to the bathroom by yourself without having tiny pairs of eyes watching you do your business. Finding small pockets of time to yourself is so important as a maxed out mom. Recharging your batteries with a hot bubble bath or your favourite book can make a huge difference.
3. Ask for Help
Don’t be afraid to ask for help from your loved ones if you need it. Your partner, parents or friends would all gladly help you so that you can enjoy a bit of downtime. As a mom you put so much pressure on yourself to do everything, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Also, if you notice any signs, don’t ignore them. Something as simple as new medication could have an adverse effect on DNA and cause symptoms, so don’t bury your head in the sand
4. Get an Early Night
Going to sleep early might seem like an easy thing to do, but it can literally make you feel like a new woman. Once or twice a week aim to go to bed at the same time as your kids and you will wake up feeling refreshed, energized and ready to tackle anything that comes your way. Don’t feel pressured into staying up late every night because your husband wants you to; get an early night and enjoy it!
Although these things may not always be possible because you’re constantly running a household and taking care of children, you need to try and put yourself first. If you’re out of action and exhausted your children aren’t going to benefit from your amazing traits as a mom. By helping yourself, you are helping your whole family; hopefully this resonates with you and you’re able to take small steps towards self care.
