If there’s one room in the house that most people find they have to clean more than any other - including the bathroom - it’s the kitchen. This is the room that’s used more than any other in most cases, and it’s where the cooking happens, which means it gets messy. And when it gets messy, you have to clean it up. So, whereas you would probably clean your house in general once a week or so, you’ll have to clean your kitchen at least once a day and often more than once!
With all that cleaning, wouldn’t it be great to find some useful tips on how to keep your kitchen cleaner? That good news is that’s exactly what you have found, so keep on reading to find out more.
Declutter The Space
It’s true there’s a difference between mess and dirt, but when you deal with one, the other is easier to handle, which is why we’re suggesting one of the first things to do when you want to keep your kitchen cleaner is to declutter the space.
When you clear the clutter, you’ll find it much easier to get to all the areas that get dirty after you’ve been cooking. Take grease, for example. When that spits from a pan, it can make a real mess, but if you onl have to clean the work surface and not the kettle, coffee marker, random mugs, bowls, tins of food, and so on - whatever happens to be nearby - that’s a lot more work. The same is true if you spill something, and so on. If you keep things as clear as possible, you can also keep things as clean as possible, and it really does make a difference.
Have A Routine
Another good idea is to have a routine when it comes to keeping your kitchen clean. You’ll clean up spills and mess after cooking, but for larger appliances, like your microwave, fridge, or oven, you can clean them once a month or so to prevent them from getting too mucky inside. Having this routine - and sticking to it - will ensure your kitchen is kept clean, but it also means that your appliances should last longer because you’re taking care of them.
Of course, eventually appliances will give up and you’ll have to invest in new ones, but be careful - it might only be one part that needs to be replaced, and it’s far cheaper to buy a new range hood than it is to but a whole new stove.
Clean As You Go
One of the reasons a kitchen can get so mucky and become more of a challenge to clean is that the job becomes too big. By waiting for a certain day of the week, or even waiting until you’ve finished cooking for the day, the mountain of mess and cleaning that has to be tackled can feel overwhelming, so you leave it - and it just keeps getting worse.
The best way to get past this issue is to clean as you go. No matter how few items you use, wash them up. No matter how small the spill, wipe it up. This will make cleaning your kitchen easier, and because it looks good so much of the time, you’ll be more motivated to keep up the momentum to ensure it stays that way.
